speedometer problems on 93 Bonneville

Hi all,

I’m in the process of acquiring a 94′ Bonny cluster.
Is this interchangeable with my 93′ Bonny?

The problem is that the Speedometer is either pointing all the way to
the left when parked or all the way to the right when driving or
sometimes in park.

I used an OBD sensor while driving and the speed the vehicle speed on
the OBD reading seems to be correct.  0 km/hr when parked and the speed
would gradually increase as I accelerate.  So that points me to a bad
speedometer.  All the other gauges are working except for the speedometer.

So before picking up the 94′ cluster, will it work on my 93′ Bonny.
If not then, will replacing the cluster with the same model year fix the
problem?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

1995 Jimmy wont start – Will only start with starter fluid

I have been having problems starting my Jimm y lately in the cooler and
wetter weather.  I can hear the fuel pump running when I turn on the key.
When I turn the key to start it it will crank but it just wont start.  I
pulled the air cleaner hose and sprayed some starter fluid down into the
intake, put the hose back on and the car started right up.  After it
started it ran perfectly fine.  After I shut it off and let it sit for a
couple of minutes it wouldn’t start again unless I sprayed starter fluid
into the intake.  Any suggestions?

1995 Buick Le Saber Brake Problem

Hello,  My 95  Le saber’s brake pedal is becomming unstable. Meaning when I
apply the brakes sometimes the pedal goes down a short distance and the
brakes are fine. Sometimes it goes down a long ways but still works but
seems sponge like.  If I pump the brakes once it comes back up to normal. I
have had the drums off the rear the pads are good shape, the front disks are
good also. The car has 93000 mi on it the front brakes have been replaced
about 5000 mi ago. Oh yeah the ABS light stayed on for one trip [about 5 mi]
then never came on since, except during the  test at startup.  The brake
fluid is up in the master cylinder to normal also.  I have been under the
car and see no leaking fluid there.   Also , sometimes this happens [drop in
pedal] sometimes it dosen’t. Cant seem to find anything in the hanes manual
or owners manual about this problem. I suspect it is in the ABS controller
but dont know much about electronics, but a little. What the problem is,
What to do about it, I haven’t a clue. Mabey somebody out there who has had
this could tell me something about what to do to fix it,  Mabey not but its
worth a try. Any advice would be appreicated.     Tallem…@comcast.net

1998 GMC Safari

Hi,
I say thank you for the advice on the last problem I posted about my dash
fan not working. It helped tremendously. I do have another question however.
Does this van use a cap and rotor or is it all solid state?

'98 Malibu – idling problems in wet weather

Hello and TIA for any help. My ’98 LS 3.1 has just over 90K and has
had no performance issues up until now. As a result, it also has not
had a "tuneup" since I bought it at around 46K. Lately in rainy
weather, after a few minutes of driving the car will sometimes fail to
accelerate away from a stop, bucking and surging. Or, it may stall
altogether once or twice while idling. This occurs *only* in wet
weather, *only* after being driven a mile or two, and *always* ceases
once the car is fully warmed up. I replaced the battery since it was
time anyway, but this had no impact.

Has anyone else seen this particular behavior? Any recommendations
where to start?

thanks
Steve L.

87 Pontiac Bonneuville Surging

Hi,
I just got this car from my great aunt.  It’s got 107K miles on it, and
when idling or accelerating from a stop, it surges, and occasionally
dies.  Once moving, it goes ok, but doesn’t accelerate strongly.  If I
stomp it, it will rev, but not beyond about 3500 rpms.  It feels like a
fuel pump issue to me, but does anyone have any experiences/opinions on
it?

Thanks!
Tom

98 Lumina Problem (tranny?)

I got an 98 Lumina with a 3.1L motor with 170000kms.  When in overdrive the
tranny will create a unusual shift between gears, seems like it slips for a
couple seconds.  this problem will occur at any random point but usually at
15km/h or around 70km/h. also seems to happen after ridding for 15mins or
so, but will occur when machine is cold.  What could be wrong, over drive
broke? easy to fix?.  Oh, also it will never happen driving in regular D, or
1,2,3, only in overdrive.
