2.8 MPI

I have A 88 Corsica with A 2.8 MPI engine. After A run long enough to warm
engine to normal temp., then shutting off for about an hour it refuses to
start. Engine temp is OK. It has no spark at the plug wires. It generates no
error codes. But letting it stand for several hours it starts and runs well
until another run. Have changed the ignition module twice, one used. one new
and the computer module, retaining the original ROM chip. Anyone got any
ideas.

FEL-PRO Val Cover gaskets Lousy!!

Just a brief post to let you small block Chevy owners that I tried to
install ( unsucessfully) a pair of Fel-pro’s neoprene gaskets today. Once
you open the box, you find gaskets that are about an ince too short for the
valve covers. The instructions say ( from inside the box ) that you may
have to stretch them to get them to fit. Unfortunately, they don’t stay
stretched and the company says not to use and sealant. In the perfect world
i.e. engine on an engine stand right in front of you with no hoses or wires
to deal with, these might work. Unless of coures, their not seated
properly.
Just try and install on the vehicle and your
out of luck. On the outside of the box, the instructions given mention
nothing about stretching the gasket. Open the box and the REAL instructions
say the gasket must be stretched. Of course, if you want to return these
gaskets, the package can’t be opened, says so right on the box. Save your
16 bucks and buy some other brand of gaskets. I stretched one of mine so
much that it broke. I’ll just buy a different type of gasket tomorrow and
finish the job that I started today.

GMC Jimmy Speaker Question

I’m not sure if this is the correct newsgroup to post this to, but here
it goes.  I have a 1991 GMC Jimmy and I recently bought some stereo
equipment.  The problem I have is that the holes for the 6" X 9" speaker
holes do not line up with my new speakers.  The only way I can install
them is to connect them to the old plastic cover and them connect the
cover to the car.  This won’t work becaue the speakers have more depth
than the original speakers and won’t sit completely inside the space.  I
would be able to just let them stick out if the screw holes lined up.
Can I get some kind of adapter so I can use my new speakers with the old
screw holes without the plastic cover ?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

96 Cavalier A/C problem

I have a 96 Chev Cavalier and when I turn on the Air conditioning the
whole car seems to shake. Their is cold air inside. I am wondering if
there is something wrong with the compressor and If  there is an easy
way to check it.(bearing out?)  Also is it normal for the cooling fan
for the radiator to start up when the air is turned on. The fan comes on
as soon as I turn on the A/C and shuts of when I turn  the A/C off.

Thanks for any help,
Wes

'93 K-1500 Front Axle Seal Leak

I have a ’93 GMC K-1500 Z-71 Bought it new and has had leaking front
axle seal since about 30,000 miles. I have replaced the seal (driver
side) 3 times now and it continues to leak, even moments after a new
seal is installed. I have been a Certified Master Tech for 20 plus
years, so I know it’s not the installation of the seal. I recently heard
of (haven’t read it) a Technical Service bulletin about just this
subject. My feeling is that there is a mechanical tolerance problem
here. Either the seal I.D is too large, the stub axle O.D. at the
sealing surface is too small, or there is some sort of a mechanical
misalignment inside the 3rd member causing the stub axle to not be
centered on the seal.   Has anyone had any experience with this or know
of a solution? I would greatly appreciate any advise anyone has.
