I have a Chevy Caprice 1979 and I am very happy with it. However, I noticed
that vacuum system is not in use because some of the pipes are not in place.
I wonder, if it is critical to have the vacuum system on my car??? What is
the use of Vacuum System ??? What would happen, if i continue using my car
without vacuum system???
Please help…
Thanks…. and best regards,
Conan
Does anyone know where I can find details about the operation of the ’84 (or
thereabouts) GM automotive computer (ie processor, programming,
schematics)? I have a couple of dead computers that I would like to try and
repair / modify for better performance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi–
I am getting a "check engine" light coming on intermittently in an 85
Buick Skylark 2.8 V6 2 bbl.
It is sometimes accompanied with a hesitation.
I tried getting the codes out ith the paper clip method -jumpering
terminals A to B.
However, when I do thios, the check engine light goes out and no codes
can be read.
Some people have told me that this is "impossible- you have to be able to
read the codes". Well, it isn’t impossible because it is happening in
this case.
Can anyone explain why this would be?
What else can I do to get codes?
Thanks!!
I own a 96 Chev K1500 4×4 Z71 with a 350 (5.7L) and shortly after
purchasing it I began experiencing noises from the driveline. There is a
clunk that sounds like it’s coming from the rear end. It occurs usually
in three situations:
1) when after coasting the gas pedal is applied,
2) when the gas is applied after a turn, and
3) during shifts from 2nd to 3rd, and not on any other shift.
GM service at the dealership says that the noise is a result of a loose
fit between the splined shafts and the fact that there is an extra set
of gears as a result of the transfer case. The solution recommended by
GM is to apply a "special" grease to the splines every 3 months.
Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem at all.
Has anybody seen this problem and know of the proper fix for it?
The truck has a limited slip diff in the rear axle and the oil seal was
replaced. I don’t know if the correct lube was added to top it up. Could
this have a bearing on the problem?
Thanks
My wife’s 86 olds cierra has been a rough starter for a while. It runs
really poorly at idle, sometimes stalling. As soon as you hit the gas it
smoothed right out and runs like a charm right up to 140km. My dad
suggested it might be the TPS Sensor so we took it out and it does not seem
to move at all when we push or pull on it. We cleaned it up a bit and tried
to work it with penetrating oil, and then reinstalled it. The car started
up beautifully and idled great. Now however as soon as you step on the
gas it bogs…..Badly. If you sneak up on the gas pedal you can drive it
just fine, but put your foot down just a little too much and BOGGG. The
funny thing is that if you shift into neutral and punch the gas it will rev
right up no problem 2 or 3 times if you like, but shift into gear hit the
gas and bog again. ANY IDEAS?

I’m seriously thinking of buying a Geo Tracker
I was looking at the Toyota RAV 4 but I couldn’t handle the price.
I do some commuting though and I didn’t know how they are for that.
I also live near the ocean so I’d get alot of use from it.
Most importantly is the price range.
Any info anyone could provide me would be helpfull
thanks
Allen
